Collecting Shells, Collecting Moments

I’m writing to you from the beach in Laganas, on the island of Zakynthos. The sea is impossibly blue today, and I’ve been walking along the shore collecting shells — tiny treasures that remind me how fleeting and precious each moment here is.

This island has become a touchstone for me. It’s where I’ve gathered women in retreat, where conversations deepen as the sun sets, and where I’ve felt how travel can open us — not just to a new place, but to a new part of ourselves.

Greece is one of the most remarkable places in the world, not only because of its beauty, but also because it invites us to slow down and take notice. A shell in the sand. A conversation over spanikopita. The sound of waves in the background of your thoughts.

This is the first in a little series of sensory glimpses from Greece — sight, sound, taste, smell. My hope is that you’ll feel like you’re here with me, whether you’ve joined a retreat here before, are coming this week, or are just imagining it for now.

Tell me — do you have a favorite “souvenir from nature” (a shell, stone, or leaf) that instantly brings you back to a place you loved? I’d love to hear.

If you know a woman who would love Greece, consider sharing this post with her.
