When I think about Greece, I don’t just see it — I hear it.
The soundtrack here begins with the waves, steady and timeless, a rhythm older than any of us. I’ve added an audio clip from the beach yesterday so you can hear it yourself. Close your eyes, press play, and let the sound carry you here for a moment.
But Greece isn’t only the sea. It’s the cicadas buzzing in the heat of the afternoon. It’s church bells echoing across the cliffs. It’s about roosters who cockle-doodle-doo not just in the morning, but all day long. It’s laughter rising from a taverna late at night, when a simple meal stretches into hours of conversation.
And when women gather here on retreat, our voices join that chorus. The lapping waves of the villa’s two infinity pools, the rustle of notebooks during art journaling, the quiet exhale after yoga, the sound of one woman’s story sparking another’s. Together, we create a soundscape of belonging.
This is the third glimpse in my sensory series from Zakynthos — after sight and taste, now it’s sound. Each layer builds a fuller picture of why I keep returning here, and why I love sharing it with you.
Tell me — what sound instantly takes you back to a place you love?
